Welcome to the Communication for Addressing Cancer Health Equity (CACHE) Lab at Texas A&M University.

Led by Dr. Shawn Chiang at Texas A&M University, the CACHE lab is centered on translational cancer communication science, with a focus on culturally tailored, digital communication strategies to translate evidence-based cancer prevention behaviors into practice among communities facing cancer disparities. We view the digital media environment as a social determinant of health and engage with community members to understand their barriers, and design culturally responsive behavioral and communication interventions so they can attain the opportunity to be as healthy as possible.

What we do

At the CACHE lab, we conduct both research-based and practice-based public health works, including

  • examine inequalities in health-related marketing and message effects on social media and other digital platforms
  • studying the effects of health messages and social technology on health attitudes and behaviors
  • designing and testing health communication campaign materials or digital tools to drive measurable change
  • developing new ways to measure engagement on digital platforms
  • identifying and promoting resources for lay audience as well as organizations

Our Team

The CACHE lab actively engages in cross-disciplinary collaborations and work with students at all levels (undergraduates, master-level, doctoral-level students…etc). Learn more about our team and ways to get involved.
